File guide

Getting your file ready for FDM

A few things to check before printing. Send your design file to get started.

Fit

Show us what it connects to.

Printed holes and clips may need a little adjustment. Share the mating part’s key measurements. For a tight fit, we can print a small test first.

Strength

Tell us where it takes a load.

Print direction affects strength. Point out the areas that must flex, hold weight or stay in place so we can orient the part around the job.

Appearance

Layer lines come with FDM.

Layer lines come with FDM. Tell us which face matters most; we’ll check orientation and agree any needed adjustment by email.

Files

Send your design file.

STL, 3MF and STEP files work best. Photos or drawings can come along for reference. If your file needs changes to print well, we’ll agree them with you by email first.
